(PACT) Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act

On November 6, a bill designed to make extreme acts of animal cruelty a felony was unanimously passed by the Senate. The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (PACT) was previously passed by the House and has been signed into law by President Trump.

PACT has enjoyed broad bipartisan support and when it becomes a federal law, it will allow the FBI and Federal law enforcement agencies the authority to crack down on cases of extreme cruelty, such as bestiality and other malicious and extreme animal cruelty crimes.

Rep. Ted Deutch, quoted in NPR, states, "This bill has received so much bipartisan support because Americans care about animal welfare. We form deep relationships with our companion animals, and are rightfully outraged by cases of animal abuse."

Violators of PACT will face felony charges, with fines and up to seven years in prison.

This is a huge win for the animals.

Introducing animal protection laws is essential in a world so full of aggression, even the slightest act of cruelty to an animal is a crime, and as such must be punished. Only through firm, real, and effective laws will human beings be able to live in peaceful and armonious societies. Cruelty to animals generates violence among ourselves. Only with the law can we put an end to cruelty, hatred and aggression.

I personally feel that abandoning an animal , not providing adequate food and water , not providing adequate Sheltor, not providing regular vetting and vetting when it’s sick or injured , shooting , kicking , abusing , tying the dog outside , keeping the dog in a cage 24 /7 , not grooming or bathing and everything else that would affect its quality of life should be in there .

I think this is wonderful. However it should include not only extreme acts of Cruelty but cruelty in general. I’d like to know exactly what type of Cruelty is listed under extreme cruelty. I say tossing an animal out on its own is cruelty tying them up outside in the cold or heat is kulfi kicking hitting throwing is Extreme cruelty. I don’t know of any cruelty that is minimal slight or little.

I’m praying this law is PASSED and the ENFORCED . Animals are not property , they feel abuse and pain , and they can’t tell anyone or get away from it . And it’s a fact that people that abuse and mistreat animals usually end up abusing and mistreating their spouses / significant others, children and the elderly . Animals have suffered WAY too long at the hands of despicable humans . We need to be their Voices and protect them . Maybe the NEW LAW if it goes in hard and heavy handing out the maximum sentences will deter people from animal abuse . I’m PRAYING 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
